SEIU Healthcare is excited to announce the appointment of Sandi Jones as SEIU Healthcare’s Nursing Division President by SEIU Healthcare President Sharleen Stewart.
Sandi has been a passionate, involved SEIU Healthcare member for almost 40 years, working as a frontline registered practical nurse (RPN) in both the long-term care and hospital sectors, proudly serving multiple terms as a steward and health and safety representative.
Over the past five years, Sandi has taken her union involvement to the next level, being part of the first-ever Nursing Wave team in 2018, facilitating more than 50 Workload Review education sessions in healthcare settings across Ontario, and contributing significantly to the growth and development of the SEIU Healthcare Nursing Division as a whole.
Sandi has also worked with our great union as an organizer, in both internal and external capacities, ensuring SEIU nurses are protected, know their rights and have their voices heard. As a proud Métis, Sandi is a strong advocate for fairness, equity and inclusion.
Please join us in welcoming sister Sandi Jones as SEIU Healthcare’s Nursing Division President.
“I am humbled and honoured to be appointed as the third-ever SEIU Healthcare Nursing Division President. I am determined to hit the ground running in this new role, doing everything I can to not only be a voice for our nurses, but to empower all 60,000+ of our members to get involved to enact the change healthcare workers need and deserve. Nurses, and all healthcare workers in Ontario, continue to face injustice and we must work together to make all healthcare jobs, good jobs. That means better wages, safer workplaces, and the ability to deliver the highest quality of care. Thank you to Sharleen Stewart, Tyler Downey and Jackie Walker for their leadership and their faith in me; I’m excited and eager to work alongside you to win for our great members.”
